Specialty Surfaces and Substrate Preparation
The finish is only as good as the surface underneath it.
The short version
Specialty surface and substrate preparation across Bucks County. Power washing, wallpaper removal, surface repairs, treatment for moisture and dry rot, and the right primer or sealer for the material.
01A solid foundation
Every surface needs the right preparation and the right products. KACE brings hands on experience preparing a wide range of interior and exterior surfaces, including decks, kitchen cabinets, previously stained or painted wood, and other challenging substrates.
02Products chosen for the material
Primers, sealers, oils, and coatings are chosen based on the material, its condition, and the surrounding environment, rather than one product used for everything. Whether a surface needs to be cleaned, repaired, sealed, or restored before painting or staining, the steps are taken to create a sound foundation.
03Not rushed
Preparation is not rushed. Taking the time to prepare each surface properly helps the paint adhere, creates cleaner lines, and produces a finish that lasts. Before any paint goes on, the surfaces are assessed and the areas that need attention are identified.

What it costs
Priced to the job, not a template.
Preparation is priced by the size and condition of the surfaces and the type of work needed. When it is part of a larger painting project it is usually folded into that estimate. We assess it and give you a written price at no cost.
Questions
Common questions.
Do you power wash as a standalone service?
Yes. Power washing and surface cleaning can be done on its own or as the first step of a painting project.
Can you deal with mold or water damaged wood?
We treat mold and mildew and address issues caused by moisture, water exposure, and dry rot before a finish goes on.
Why does preparation cost anything if you are painting anyway?
The preparation is what decides whether the finish lasts. Rushing it is the most common reason a paint job fails early.
Do you prepare decks and previously stained wood?
Yes. Decks, previously stained or painted wood, and other challenging substrates are part of what we prepare regularly.
